Bucks take Baseball Series from Spartans E-mail

COLUMBUS - Ohio State defeated Big Ten Conference-leading Michigan State, 10-5, Sunday to win the series and climb to within a game of the league leaders heading to the midpoint of the conference season next week. Ohio State evened its overall record at 15-15 and improved to 5-4 in the Big Ten. Michigan State is now 22-10 and 6-3.

The Final rankings for our Men and women basketball teams are:

#5. Ohio State Men (34-3): Points: 630 (1). Previous ranking: 1. Outlook: All-America F Jared Sullinger says he's staying, but the Buckeyes will have different look with graduations of defensive specialist David Lighty, sharpshooter Jon Diebler and C Dallas Lauderdale. Gs Aaron Craft and William Buford are due back with F Deshaun Thomas. NCAA results: Beat Texas-San Antonio 75-46, beat George Mason 98-66, lost to then-No. 10 Kentucky 62-60.

#17. Ohio State Women (24-10):  Points: 276. Previous ranking: 22. Outlook: Late-season surge carried Buckeyes to regional semifinals. But now All-America C Jantel Lavender and G Brittany Johnson are gone. Samantha Prahalis and Tayler Hill will be offensive spark plugs. NCAA results: Beat Central Florida 80-69, beat Georgia Tech 67-60, lost to then-No. 4 Tennessee 85-75.   GO BUCKS!

ESPN.com-Seniors dominated The AP All-America team for the first time in five years...however, there was one underclassman ... Jared Sullinger burst on to the national scene by averaging 17.2 points and 10.1 rebounds while shooting 53.6 percent.  Sullinger, the seventh freshman All-American over the last five years, received 58 votes.  "I felt he was going to have a great impact not just on our program but on college basketball. The productivity he's had throughout the course of the season has really been incredible," said Buckeyes coach Thad Matta.

Men/Women Lacrosse Teams Victorious E-mail

COLUMBUS (OSUBuckeyes.com) - Nine Buckeyes scored, including four with six or more points, as the Ohio State women's lacrosse team defeated Canisius by 23-7 Monday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. With the win Ohio State improves its record to 3-3 on the season, while Canisius falls to 1-3.  On the men's side, the # 13/16 Ohio State men’s lacrosse team defeated Lehigh, 11-7, Tuesday night in Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. The Buckeyes broke open a one-goal game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mountain Hawks, 4-1, in the stanza en route to victory. Ohio State is now 5-1 this season, while Lehigh falls to 3-2.  GO BUCKS!

INDIANAPOLIS (ESPN.com)--While the men were dealing with Wisconsin in Columbus, the Ohio State women, with Jantel Lavender and Sam Prahalis leading the way, left Indianapolis as a champion -- again.  The four-time Big Ten player of the year and junior Prahalis delivered 23 points each to lead fifth-seeded Ohio State past second-seeded Penn State 84-70 for the Buckeyes' record-tying third consecutive tourney title.  GO BUCKS!!  Big Ten Tourney Champions!!

INDIANAPOLIS (OSUBuckeyes.com)--Jantel Lavender tied a career high with 37 points and had nine rebounds to lead Ohio State to a 72-57 win over No. 11 Michigan State on Saturday in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament.

It was senior day in Columbus and the OSU lady Buckeyes (19-9, 10-6) wanted to hammer home a point--"We Are Not Done!" as Lavender and Prahalis led the Bucks to an overwhelming 80-47 beat down of the Wisconsin Badgers.  The Buckeyes limited the Badgers to only 14 points in the first half and never let up.  The Buckeyes end their regular season in a virtual tie for third in the conference and a probable first round bye in the Big Ten Tournament.  Good luck Buckeyes!!

EAST LANSING (OSUBuckeyes.com)-The Buckeyes had some satisfaction after turning over the Big Ten women's basketball crown to the Spartans...they happened to be the visiting team on the night Michigan State (No. 8 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP) planned its championship celebration.  Jantel Lavender and the Buckeyes did the only thing they could: They beat the Spartans by a score of 54-53 and spoil MSU celebration.  Oh well, the small wins can mean some momentum going into the Big Ten Tourney!  Go Bucks!
